Once upon a time, Disney World had Fastpasses. These fastpasses allowed guests to skip the traditional queue for some of the more popular rides. Then fastpasses changed to Disney+ with a LIghtning Lane option allowing guests to pay to skip the line. Now, Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass has replaced Disney Genie+ service, and Lightning Lane Single Pass has replaced individual “à la carte” Lightning Lane entry.
If you have no idea where to start with Disney Lightning Lane, we have all the details you need to know.
Disney Lightning Lane Services
There are two ways guests at Disney can experience getting to a jump on riding their favorite Disney rides.
Guests staying at a Disney Resort can purchase passes up to 7 days in advance of their stay.
Other guests can purchase passes up to 3 days before their park visit.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
When you purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass you can choose up to 3 multi pass experiences and arrival times prior to your day at the park.
Once you’ve enjoyed your first multi pass experience, you can make additional selections.
With this pass guests also get photo perks. Guests will receive digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos captured with Disney PhotoPass Service.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
Lightning Lane single passes act as they previously did.
Guests are able to purchase up to 2 single Lightning Lane passes per day on the same day as the visit.
These can be used on rides that are not on the Lightning Lane Multi Pass which means that guests can purchase both the multi-day and the single passes.
If you have a ticket with the Park Hopper option, guests can choose a multi-pass experience in a different theme park.
How Much Does Lightning Lane Cost?
Pricing for Lightning Lane passes varies by date and theme park or attraction. Availability is also not guaranteed.
Guests can check the prices for Lightning Lane in the My Disney Experience App.

Is the Lightning Lane worth it?
If you have ever been to Disney World during the most crowded times of the year (which is nearly all the time), you are going to find that you will need Lightning Lane to be able to ride the most popular rides.
Don’t be confused and think that Lightning Lane will keep you from having lines. That isn’t the case at all!
Lighting Lane pretty much means that you will have LESS of a line than you would without it. It is like waiting 30 min- 1 hour instead of 3-4 hours for the more popular rides.
So overall, yes, while I hate to say it, you probably should go ahead and pony up for one or both of the Lighting Lane options.
